We went to Las Vegas in June 2006 for the opening of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with Michael Lee, archivist for the Maria Bjornson archive.

Whilst there we took a ride out to Nevada to see the Hoover Dam. The heat was formidable, in the high 90's, and we asked the driver to stop the car and let us have a look at the desert vegetation.

The pieces of rock that we collected were still hot that evening, long after after we had returned to the Venetian Hotel. The Dam is a perfect Art Deco construction in the middle of nowhere and should be the eighth wonder of the World. It is like a desert Temple built for a giant god in the middle of a hellish place.
